Support Groups BLISS, the premature and sick baby charity, is dedicated to making sure that more babies born prematurely or sick in the UK survive and that each one has the best possible quality of life. Some newborn babies need a little extra special care when they are born and BLISS is dedicated to ensuring that the babies get the best care wherever they are born and that their parents and families get the support they need.
This useful guidebook has a host of information aimed at who have had a premature baby. The booklet is available free. It may have been given to you when your baby was born. Copies can be ordered from this site. 24 weeks plus is a charity aiming to raise parents' perspectives of having a very preterm infant. They also offer an e-mail support service to parents.
SANDS is a charitable organisation that provides support to bereaved parents who have had a stillborn baby or a baby who has died soon after birth. They have an extensive network of local volunteers.
Useful Information Contact a Family is a database of useful information for families and health professionals about a wide variety of disorders, including rare genetic disorders and congenital abnormalities. They can provide links to parent support groups for specific conditions. NHS Direct provides 24hr access to health advice. Their site also contains useful information about a wide range of medical conditions and provides links and information about all issues related to NHS services.
Cerebra- for brain injured children and young people Cerebra offers education and support for parents of brain injured children. They provide an educational resource with several leaflets as well as e-mail support.
